Aunt Letha’s White Bread

  • 1 cup potato water
  • 1 package yeast
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 cup mashed potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 6 cups flour (approximately)

Scald milk; add potato water, salt, sugar, mashed potatoes, and butter. Let cool. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add to cooled mixture. Add enough flour to make a firm dough. Knead well. Put in greased bowl; flip to grease the top. Let rise until double. Punch down. Make 2 loaves, and let double. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.
